The Port regulatory plan of the Regione Marche provides for the "construction of quays for a total of m. 1360, with large squares behind and adequate external defenses. The new conformation of the external defense works allows to obtain a new rectilinear quay with a length of m. 920 with -14 m backdrops. and the new entrance with a deep waterway - 15 m ".
The intervention on the depositing site involved an investment of approximately 9 million euros and allowed to achieve various objectives:
- replace with rocks the barrier wall outside the north pier, which was no longer safe;
- dispose of the sludge dug from the seabed of the ports of Fano, Numana, Senigallia and Civitanova Marche to restore the safety conditions of the port basins;
- widen the width of the pier with a new north quay built above the tank (waterproofed with three sheets of special materials and covered with solid material)
- free a splendid view from the Port to the north.
The regional councilor for the environment, Sandro Donati, underlined that: "The project includes types of works that guarantee a high level of waterproofing of the bottom and walls of the tank and, therefore, the environmental sustainability of the intervention".
